We’ve had a weekend full of neighborhood happenings around here. Yesterday we were invited to a little party in the park where the kids decorated their bikes, wagons, trikes, strollers and even a toy dog for a parade around the park to celebrate the end of summer. Afterwards they had ice cream cones and homemade ice cream sandwiches. My neighbor across the park blogs for an adorable party shop called Sweet Lulu’s so she’s always doing fun things to feature the party/decoration items sold in the store. You should definitely check it out if you’re in need of fun items for a party. I don’t think she’s updated it since the party but keep checking back. I’m sure the pictures will be amazing.
I love to do things like this but this is on a whole other level from what I’m capable of doing. The cute factor is high, and so is the work involved. Here are a few pictures from our time there.
Then today there was an ice cream social at the park. There were booths, a bouncy house, rock wall, raffles, face painting and of course ice cream. We met even more people from the neighborhood and after 3 1/2 hours there we were spent. We had a table to get more emails to invite people to other community events and info. on the school issue that we’re still working on for a neighborhood school to be made available to us.
There is never a dull moment around here and I know I’ve said it many times lately, but I love our neighborhood. Brooklyn is the best!
Tonight is the eve of the first day of kindergarten. Here’s to hoping that I don’t cry while dropping her off. Wish me luck.
