It’s a Small World

Our team was passed on a name of someone that wants to potentially be a volunteer with our ministry. I was given her name, some info. on her and decided to be the one to meet with her. Her and her husband also live in the same neighborhood we live in. Right before I left for the appointment I was putting the details together and realized that Tara may have been in my small group the first summer we went to Lake Tahoe as staff. I kept thinking no, that would be too much of a coincidence. But sure enough, when she walked into the coffee shop I recognized her. She however did not remember me. Safe to say I didn’t change her life as a result of being her small group leader that summer and I look really different now so I have to cut her some slack. Just another opportunity to be humbled 🙂 As the conversation continued she began to remember our conversations, as did I and where we would sit for discipleship time. It was so fun to catch up and share what God has done in our lives over the past 8 years. Wow, 8 years!

When I got home I just had to find some pictures of that summer. There were some great ones (and also evidence that Matt and I were also at least 10 lbs. heavier. yikes). I also found these of the Oster’s and us when we hiked Mt. Tallac when they came to visit the project. They had just decided they were going to join staff. Who would have thought back then that we would be leading a new ministry in Portland together?! Crazy how God works and brings our paths together.

Meeting with Tara made me excited that we’re going back to Lake Tahoe this summer. Matt is helping give leadership to the project. Who knows what students will be there and what God will do in their futures. What an exciting adventure and ministry we get to be a part of.
