The Gift of Motherhood

I do not take for granted that I am a mother. It is a gift that I cherish and that did not come easy. I know some are given the gift and squander it, didn’t want it or resent it. It makes me sad for those precious children that are gifts not cherished as they should be.

Today I and so thankful that God has given me two beautiful babes to raise and one I’ll hold in heaven one day.

I’m thankful for Brittany and the sacrifice she made so that we have the opportunity to raise our sweet boy (I know this day cannot be easy for her).

I’m thankful for my mother and that she has sacrificially loved me and my children. I knew I was a gift for her as well and for that I’m grateful.

I’m thankful for my grandmothers and the way they have loved me and my family.

I’m thankful for my mother-in-law, she has raised an incredible man who blesses me and our children every day.

I’m thankful for our Father in Heaven who not only cares for us as a Father but also like a mother. To all of you who this day is hard for as a mother in waiting, a mother in pain, a child without a mother, a child with a broken relationship with a mother, and the rest I am forgetting please know you are a gift. I pray you feel loved and cherished today no matter where you are at.

Here’s a post that I enjoyed so much today and is much more eloquent than I. And here’s another post by a sweet family in Bozeman who have adopted from Ethiopia. This post had tears streaming down my face. Please read and enjoy them both. You’ll be glad you did.

May you have a blessed day. I’m staying in bed as directed right now so Jenna can bring me breakfast in bed and I’m loving listening to her help Matt with such excitement. How sweet she is. I remember those days as well. My mom acted like it was the best thing she had ever tasted or experienced when we did that for her and I’ll do the same for my little ones.
